It has been a long, long, long, long time coming. But for fans of the Pixies, the wait is finally over. Kind of. Drummer David Lovering tells Rolling Stone that the group is thinking about (possibly) recording a new album in the near(ish) future.
“It’s definitely a stronger possibility than it was a few years ago,” Lovering says. “It’s going to be baby steps, though. We have the formula and we know we can do it. But if we put something out, it has to be good. Period.”
The Pixies have spent the past two years on the road, playing 1989’s Doolittle in its entirety, but a new album would mark the first release of new material by the group since their reformation in 2004.
